Optimizing Methods to Centroid
Wavelength Calibration Lines

• Summary: In order for the model based wavelength calibration to work automatically, the methods for centroiding the wevelength calibration lines in noisy exposures have to be optimized. This translates into a project to literature survey of algorithms and the testing of various options on real life emission line images with few to very few counts. We have included a very robust method after careful comparison into the working version of the STIS-CE wavelength calibration part.
