Free format text (clear and concise) The principle objective is to monitor the location fo the post-COSTAR F/96 aperture with respect to the V2V3 coordinate frame throughout Cycle 6. The orientation of the detector and the reseaux axes with respect to the V2V3 axes will be used to update the PDB in the event that a significant shift in the aperture is detected. Questions ! Free format text (clear and concise) Observing_Description: Use blind pointing to acquire the selected NGC 188 astrometric field. A series of three blind pointings at the astrometric targets used in the Cycle 5 aperture monitoring proposal will be taken to determine the location of the aperture center. This test is critical for verifying that the proper aperture location populates the PDB, something for which only astrometric observations can be used to obtain the necessary accuracy. An internal flatfield taken after the external observations will provide a monitor of the geometric distortion of the detector. The observing sequence will be executed twice in Cycle 6. Real_Time_Justification: Calibration_Justification: The small field of view for the FOC requires highly accurate pointing in order to be assured of acquiring the target. This proposal will monitor the absolute position of the detector with respect to the FGSs in order to eliminate errors in the pointing due to the aperture location.
