Contact: N Abstract: ! Free format text (clear and concise) FOC images, and PC images of selected radio galaxies with known structure wil be obtained. 3C20.0 will be observed with the PC to determine if the optical emission seen at the radio position can be resolved. (3C20.0 exposures dropped 2/28 to allow an F220W image of NGC6251). 3C346 will be observed at high resolution in the UV with the FOC again to study the details of the optical emission associated with the radio hot spots. The UV bright spot previously detected in NGC6251 will be re-imaged with the post-COSTAR FOC using the polarization filters. Questions ! Free format text (clear and concise) Observing_Description: Target 1 is 3C20W. The is a radio hot spo which is seen in the optical. (Target 1 dropped to allow addition of 2 orbits of FOC/96, F220W on NGC6251). Target 2 is 3C346 is another optical and radio coincidence. Target 3 is NGC6251. This galaxy has been observed before with FOC, and an object close to the nucleus has been detected in the UV but not in the V. This object lies at an angle close to 90 degrees from the position of the radio jet. These observations with the post costar FOC polarizers will provide much higher S:N and resolution than the previous observations.
