Fritz Benedict CoI_Institution: University of Texas Contact: Questions Observing_Description: We will observe ADS11300 during Cycle 6 to refine the orbital elements of this close pair now near periastron passage. Abstract: We propose to use FGS in TRANS mode to observe the close known binary ADS11300. According to an orbital analysis incorporating recent HST-FGS results, this pair of 54-yr orbital period is expected to pass through periastron in 1996.25 +/- 0.75 and will reach a component separation of 10 mas. The proposed observations, in combination with two observations to be secured in Cycle 6, will provide a critical test of the angular-resolution limits achievable with FGS in the TRANS mode.
