Proposal_Information Title: Test of Technique to aviod FGS1 Stalls Proposal_Category: ENG Scientific_Category: Engineering Cycle: 5 Investigators PI_name: James Pan PI_Institution: ST ScI CoI_Name: Rodger Doxsey CoI_Institution: ST ScI Contact: Y Abstract: The proposed test will demonstrate whether a short period of Coarse Track will dissipate the material accumulated during the offset maneuver, and hence avoid the lost of lock and loss of science. The test will acquire a pair of guide stars using FGS1, slew to the target location, comand a GS reacquisition which will naturally provide 10 seconds of Coarse Track, and then execute two small angle maneuvers that will cause reversals of the bearing direction. The first of these two SAMS should be free of a reversal bump, the second should have one. This test will be run 3 times and 3 control tests will also be run. The controls will be identical, but will NOT include the reacquisitions. These should each have reversal bumps.
