Free format text (clear and concise) The ultraviolet spectra of two objects in the complex core of Eta Carinae are observed with grating mode G140L of the Goddard High Resolution Spectrograph. One object is the brightest point, presumably the central star. The second is a knot 0.33 arc seconds to the northeast, which is the second brightest region in uv light, and appears to be aligned with the "jet" of material which extends towards the NN and NS Condensations. The spectra are made with the targets in the GHRS Small Science Aperture (0.22 arc sec), and cover the wavelength range 1210A - 1760A. Questions ! Free format text (clear and concise) Observing_Description: Lines 10 - 30 define a standard GHRS onboard target acquisition, with an RTB search, double locate, and image mode map of the Large Science Aperture. Lines 40 and 50 peakup and image the brightest point in the Small Science Aperture. Lines 100 and 110 obtain spectra of the source with G140L, using the simplest substep pattern (#2) and a standard fp-split strategy. When concatenated the data from these two lines will cover the spectral range 1210A < lambda < 1760A. Line 200 offsets from the brightest point to the uv knot to the northeast and makes an image through the SSA without attempting a separate peakup. Lines 210 and 220 obtain the same spectrum exposures on the knot as were made for the core on lines 100 and 110. Real_Time_Justification: No real-time resources are requested. Calibration_Justification: No special calibrations are requested. Additional_Comments: Fixed_Targets !
