Europa is first acquired using a three-stage peakup (A+B1+C1, with C1 using the 1.0 aperture, as recommended by Alex Storrs and Tony Keyes). After acquisition, the offset to Io is performed and the satellite is observed as it emerges from eclipse. This event should occur no closer than 10 m. to the times of shutter opening or closing. A confirmation image of Io is obtained. Visit 3 performs FOS observations of specific areas on Io. Io is the target for acquisition, and an HRS acq for FOS observations is performed. Spectra of two regions are made: IO-W-LOKI and IO-W-DARK, through the 0.3 aperture. The acquisition procedure will return to the pointing that gives the highest number of counts, it may be useful to constrain the spectral range of the acquisition to minimize the contrast in surface features and/or maximize limb darkening. Visit 4 performs a spatial scan roughly north-south across Io. Since the 0.3 aperture is used, the acquisition sequence is identical to visit 3. Real_Time_Justification: Onboard acquisition obviates the need for real-time connection. Calibration_Justification: Only the 4.3 and 0.3 apertures are used, so no additional calibration should be necessary. Additional_Comments: The instrument team (cf.
