It continues observations made in March and April 1995 with program 6141. It includes UV, visible and methane band WF and PC imaging and FOS UV spectroscopy of Jupiter to search for continued evidence of the SL9 impacts, and follow their continued temporal variation. It consists of two orbits of imaging, and two orbits of spectroscopy. We want the four visits scheduled sequentially, with no gap between. The spectroscopy requires center to limb measurements of the target latitude (-48deg planetographic), which is accomplished by having one orbit of imaging between the two orbits of spectroscopy. The intent is that one orbit of the FOS spectroscopy will have the target near the CML, and the second orbit will have the target near the limb. Please note, as stated above, that THESE FOUR VISITS NEED TO BE SCHEDULED IN THE SEQUENTIAL ORDER 1-4 WITHOUT A GAP BETWEEN ANY OF THE VISITS. We have captured this in the visit requirements by using SEQ 1-4 WITHIN 15H. Real_Time_Justification: Calibration_Justification: Additional_Comments: Abstract: The nature of the SL9 impact sites has continued to change with time, and has been characterized by HST observations in March and April 1995, which show the atmospheric perturbations caused by the impacts still present in the form of darkening at the impact latitude in UV images and brightening in methane band images, and in the form of strong NH3 absorption in UV spectroscopic measurements with the FOS. This program will continue the characterization of the temporal evolution of the SL9 impact sites with continued UV, visible and methane band imaging, and FOS spectroscopy.
