Hack CoI_Institution: STSCI Contact: Abstract: Questions Observing_Description: This proposal will attempt to locate the F/48 slit for long slit spectroscopy, and also judge the behavior of the background noise throughout the observation run. The target was chosen for its large size, well determined features based on F/96 images, and well-known coordinates. The target will be acquired using a modified Mode I acquisition procedure which have been optimized to run in as short a period as possible. While the SIP is uplinked, an INTFLAT and DARK will be taken to track the geometric stability and background counts. Once centered in the full format, it will be slewed to the expected location of the slit where it will proceed with a spatial scan. After completing part of the scan, the images will be downloaded and analyzed in real-time to determine the location of the slit. The target will then be SIP'ed to that location for the remainder of the observations. INTFLATS will be taken during the decision times to track the camera distortions. The proposed sequence for the observations in the proposal goes as follows: Turn on F/48 camera HV. Take INTFLAT and DARK during first orbit, allows flare to lessen in intensity prior to imaging. Take INT ACQ image (15 min exp. time) Download ACQ image; take INTFLAT and DARK during decision time Retain TDRSS link for immediate uplink after INTFLAT Uplink SIP, start first spatial scan across slit Take DARK during occultation to track background.
