Free format text (please update) The FOS will be used with small apertures to map the stellar velocity dispersion and rotation in a grid covering the central 0.5" of NGC224 (M31). The velocity disperions and rotation curves will be used to model the nuclear dynamics and to measure the nuclear M/L. Questions ! Free format text (please update) Observing_Description: FOS observations of NGC 224 (M31) will consist of spectra at several locations arround the fainter peak and along the major axis (position angle 45 deg) using grating G570H and the 0.1" (0.086") aperture. These new major axis positions will effectively resolve one or two of the previously taken positions with the 0.3" aprture. The target acquisition is particularly thorough to secure the required accuracy of approximately 0.015". It consists of a Binary Serach on a nearby star successfully used in our previous onservations and a subsequent four stage Peak-Up on a 18 mag star about 11" from the M31 nucleus. The subsequent analysis will include a Fourier quotient measurements of bouth the velocity and velocity dispersion. For a template we will use the very high signal-to-noise ratio spectra of the K star F193 that were obtained as part of our previous proposals. Real_Time_Justification: None.
