Additional_Comments: Will continue into Cycle 6; one epoch in cycle 6. Abstract: RR Lyrae is the prototype of a class of stars that provide a fundamental steppingstone for the astronomical distance scale. Its trigonometric parallax is presently known to be around 0.0042 +/- 0.0019 arcsec for a distance modulus of 6.86 +/- 0.6 mag. It is the only star of this class with parallax range of HST. HST observations have the potential to reduce the parallax uncertainty to about 0.0005 arcsec.
