Free format text (please update) We propose HST-FOS-G190H observations of a grouping of five QSOs on the sky. The fact that there are five QSOs means that there are 10 pairings, and the pairs have the following separations in arcmin: 0.9, 1.4, 1.6, 2.1, 2.6, 3.2, 4.7, 6.6, 7.0, and 7.9. The G190H observations will cover the redshift interval z ~ 0.25 -- 0.88. The sizes subtended by the observations will range from ~ 130h^-1 kpc (for the 0.9 arcmin pair at z = 0.25) to ~ 2h^-1 Mpc (for the 7.9 arcmin pair at z = 0.88). Common LyAlpha absorption lines have been seen in spectra of pairs of QSOs at higher redshift (z ~ 2) for separations of ~ 50h^-1 kpc and have been found to correlate with each other at small velocity separations (Deltav < 500 kms) for separations as large as ~ 400h^-1 kpc. At the largest length scales we propose to study, some common metal-line absorption has been reported in spectra of QSO pairs at high redshift and clusters/superclusters of galaxies have these characteristic lengths at low redshift. More recently, results from the HST Quasar Absorption Line Key Project show evidence for some clustering of LyAlpha lines with velocity dispersions of ~ 600 to 1400 kms \ which, if interpreted as a Hubble flow, correspond to dimensions of ~ 4 to 9 Mpc. For S/N ~ 30 we estimate that ~ 27 relatively strong 5-Sigma significance LyAlpha lines with rest equivalent widths > 0.17 Angstrom \ will be detected in each spectrum. These observations can uniquely explore the LyAlpha forest cloud sizes, characteristic clustering lengths, and region shapes at z ~ 0.25 -- 0.88. Questions !
