We will line_3: make use of a DWELL SCAN to scan line_4: the small science aperture across the PSF. We will sample line_5: the the PSF on a scale of 0.053 arc sec line_6: (equal to 2 deflections unit in the GHRS detector space). line_7: Exposure times will be 30 s at each dwell point to average line_8: over a few cycles of the dominant spacecraft jitter (0.1 Hz). question: 3 section: 2 line_1: The sequence of observations is: line_2: 1. 5x5 ONBOARD ACQ w/MIRROR-N1 line_3: 2. 5x5 ACQ/PEAKUP in SSA w/MIRROR-N1 line_4: 3 5x5 ACQ/PEAKUP in SSA w/MIRROR-N1 to ensure target is line_5: centered in SSA line_6: 3. 15x15 DWELL SCAN (spacing = 0.053 arc sec) line_7: in SSA w/MIRROR-N1 using RAPID mode question: 3 section: 3 line_1: The target used in this test is in the CVZ. question: 4 section: 1 line_1: The purpose of this program is to determine the nature of line_2: the PSF that is presented to the GHRS apertures by the line_3: COSTAR mirrors. The need for this test is driven by the line_4: apparent discrepancies among the currently observed SSA/LSA line_5: ratio, the ratio determined during the focusing of the line_6: COSTAR mirrors, and the predicted ratio. IMAGE data suggests line_7: that the PSF may in fact be asymmetric, thus allowing line_8: different apertures and spectral elements to "see" different line_9: amounts of light. To test this hypothesis we will measure line_10: the PSF; the PSF measurement will be done by moving the line_11: spacecraft and sampling the PSF with the SSA. line_12: Previously, we have seen evidence that there may be a line_13: small positional offset between where throughput is greatest line_14: for a grating and where it is maximized for a mirror (see line_15: GHRS ISR-044). The proposed program contains observations line_16: with both the G140L grating and MIRROR-N1 which will allow line_17: us to look for similar offsets. question: 5 section: 1 line_1: SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: line_4: line_5: Target is in the CVZ. general_form_address: lname: HULBERT fname: STEPHEN category: PI inst: STSCI country: USA phone: 410-338-4911 fixed_targets: targnum: 1 name_1: SK-65D21 name_2: WO-39 descr_1: B,113; descr_2: EXT-STAR; HOST=LMC; EARLY TYPE; descr_3: TYPE = B0 IA; pos_1: PLATE-ID = 06AF, pos_2: RA = 05H 01M 22.326S +/- 0.50", pos_3: DEC = -65D 41' 48.14" +/- 0.50" equinox: 2000.0 rv_or_z: V = +280 acqpr_1: BKG fluxnum_1: 001 fluxval_1: TYPE = B0 IA fluxnum_2: 001 fluxval_2: V = 12.02 fluxnum_3: 001 fluxval_3: E(B-V) = 0.10 fluxnum_4: 002 fluxval_4: B-V = -0.16, U-B = -1.06 fluxnum_5: 003 fluxval_5: F-CONT(1275) = 1.88 +/- 0.00 E-12 fluxnum_6: 004 fluxval_6: F-CONT(1585) = 9.55 +/- 0.00 E-13 exposure_logsheet: linenum: 10.000 targname: SK-65D21 config: HRS opmode: ACQ aperture: 2.0 sp_element: MIRROR-N1 num_exp: 1 time_per_exp: 25S priority: 1 param_1: SEARCH-SIZE=5, param_2: BRIGHT=RETURN, req_1: ONBOARD ACQ FOR 15-20; req_2: CYCLE 4 / 10-40 comment_1: STEPTIME=1.0S comment_2: EXPECT APPROX. 2800 COUNTS/S comment_3: TARGET IS IN CVZ ! linenum: 15 targname: SK-65D21 config: HRS opmode: IMAGE aperture: 2.0 sp_element: MIRROR-N1 num_exp: 1 time_per_exp: 256S priority: 1 param_1: NX=16, param_2: NY=16, param_3: DELTA-X=4, param_4: DELTA-Y=4, comment_1: STEPTIME=1.0S ! linenum: 20 targname: SK-65D21 config: HRS opmode: ACQ/PEAKUP aperture: 0.25 sp_element: MIRROR-N1 num_exp: 1 time_per_exp: 25S priority: 1 param_1: SEARCH-SIZE=5, req_1: ONBOARD ACQ FOR 25 comment_1: STEPTIME=1.0S ! linenum: 25 targname: SK-65D21 config: HRS opmode: ACQ/PEAKUP aperture: 0.25 sp_element: MIRROR-N1 num_exp: 1 time_per_exp: 25S priority: 1 param_1: SEARCH-SIZE=5, req_1: ONBOARD ACQ FOR 40 comment_1: STEPTIME=1.0S ! linenum: 40 targname: SK-65D21 config: HRS opmode: RAPID aperture: 0.25 sp_element: G140L wavelength: 1400 num_exp: 1 time_per_exp: 112.5M priority: 1 param_1: SAMPLE-TIME=1.0 req_1: SPATIAL SCAN SINGLE-EXP comment_1: 15X15 GRID WITH 0.053 ARC SEC SPACING comment_2: EXPTIME AT EACH DWELL POINT=30S ! scan_data: line_list: 40 fgs_scan: cont_dwell: D dwell_pnts: 15 dwell_secs: 30.0 scan_width: 0.742 scan_length: 0.742 sides_angle: 270.0 number_lines: 15 scan_rate: first_line_pa: 90.0 scan_frame: S/C len_offset: 0.371 wid_offset: 0.371
