The locate phase first centers line_5: the object in y: first coarse, then fine. The locate phase line_6: next centers in x; again in two steps: coarse and fine. line_7: During the coarse balance the GHRS attempts to position the line_8: object such that the 4th target acquistion diode is recording line_9: the greatest flux (there are 8 target acquisition diodes.) line_10: Previously, the second step was to use two deflection steps line_11: to move the object toward diode 5--stopping when diode 5 line_12: recorded the greatest flux.
