The strength of this idea is the high efficiency line_5: of the FOS Prism, which can obtain a S/N=20 `spectrum' of an 18th line_6: magnitude quasar in only 3 minutes. The Prism exposure would often be line_7: complementary to the primary science exposures. The Prism data would line_8: provide a simultaneous tie to the optical B band continuum level. In line_9: addition, it could be used to accurately determine the continuum shape. line_10: We have extracted a list of the FOS quasar and AGN targets from cycle 4 line_11: and submit exposure requests to the STScI with minimum acceptable line_12: exposure times for each target. The target will have been acquired by line_13: the primary program; normally the only instrumental setup required is line_14: the replacement of the grating with the Prism which takes up to 1.5 line_15: minutes. We will normally use the aperture selected by the primary GO line_16: for that target,unless an occulting aperture, or the low throughput line_17: 0.25-PAIR or 0.1-PAIR apertures are in place. In this case we will also line_18: request the 1.0 circular aperture; the extra overhead is justified by line_19: the extra throughput. While it would be preferable always to use the line_20: red digicon, the setup time for a change is prohibitive so we will use line_21: whichever digicon was used by the GO.
