This proposal contines along the same lines line_7: by carrying out a similar observing program for the F/96 full format line_8: (512zx1024) using the F220W filter instead (previous line_9: F/96 proposals have used the F140W filter). ! ! end of abstract general_form_proposers: lname: GREENFIELD fname: P. title: DR. inst: SPACE TELESCOPE SCIENCE INSTITUTE country: USA ! ! end of general_form_proposers block general_form_text: question: 3 section: 1 line_1: Before any meaningful imaging science can be accomplished, the line_2: FOC has to be flat fielded to at least 3% accuracy in order to line_3: remove the instrument signature. Since the pixel-to-pixel variations line_4: vary only slowly with wavelength, this calibration needs to be performed line_5: in small no. of UV filter wavelengths chosen to cover uniformly line_6: the UV response range of the FOC. The only inherently flat field line_7: for the FOC is the Lyman alpha geocoronal emission pattern and, line_8: possibly, certain regions of the Orion Nebula near the Trapezium line_9: (the inner nebula). This proposal will use the Orion Nebula line_10: to generate a flat field at one UV wavelength for F/96. line_11: This will be accomplished by observing a relatively uniform region line_12: of the nebula with 10 overlapping exposures for F/96. line_13: Previous exposures of the region show that although line_14: it is smooth, it is not uniform. The overlapping exposures will be used line_15: to determine the variation in surface brightness of the nebula across line_16: the field of view and therefore allow the determination of the actual line_17: flat field response of the FOC. line_20: addition there is an additional exposure for each for the purposes of line_21: registering with exposures in previous proposals. The total time for this line_22: proposal is 6.11 hours. ! !end of general form text general_form_address: lname: GREENFIELD fname: P. title: DR. category: PI inst: SPACE TELESCOPE SCIENCE INSTITUTE addr_1: 3700 SAN MARTIN DRIVE city: BALTIMORE state: MD zip: 21218 country: USA phone: 410-338-4426 telex: 684-9101-STSCI ! ! end of general_form_address records fixed_targets: targnum: 1 name_1: FFT9 name_2: NGC1976 descr_1: G,503,J,705 pos_1: RA=5H 35M 21.2S +/- 0.1S, pos_2: DEC=-5D 21' 18.0" +/- 0.5" equinox: 2000 ! targnum: 2 name_1: FFT9-A name_2: NGC1976 descr_1: G,503,J,705 pos_1: XI-OFF=0" +/- 0.1", pos_2: ETA-OFF=0" +/- 0.1", pos_3: FROM 1 equinox: 2000 ! targnum: 3 name_1: FFT9-B name_2: NGC1976 descr_1: G,503,J,705 pos_1: XI-OFF=4" +/- 0.1", pos_2: ETA-OFF=0" +/- 0.1", pos_3: FROM 1 equinox: 2000 ! targnum: 4 name_1: FFT9-C name_2: NGC1976 descr_1: G,503,J,705 pos_1: XI-OFF=0" +/- 0.1", pos_2: ETA-OFF=4" +/- 0.1", pos_3: FROM 1 equinox: 2000 ! targnum: 5 name_1: FFT9-D name_2: NGC1976 descr_1: G,503,J,705 pos_1: XI-OFF=-4" +/- 0.1", pos_2: ETA-OFF=0" +/- 0.1", pos_3: FROM 1 equinox: 2000 ! targnum: 6 name_1: FFT9-E name_2: NGC1976 descr_1: G,503,J,705 pos_1: XI-OFF=0" +/- 0.1", pos_2: ETA-OFF=-4" +/- 0.1", pos_3: FROM 1 equinox: 2000 ! targnum: 7 name_1: FFT9-F name_2: NGC1976 descr_1: G,503,J,705 pos_1: XI-OFF=0" +/- 0.1", pos_2: ETA-OFF=2" +/- 0.1", pos_3: FROM 1 equinox: 2000 ! targnum: 8 name_1: FFT9-G name_2: NGC1976 descr_1: G,503,J,705 pos_1: XI-OFF=-2" +/- 0.1", pos_2: ETA-OFF=0" +/- 0.1", pos_3: FROM 1 equinox: 2000 ! targnum: 9 name_1: FFT9-H name_2: NGC1976 descr_1: G,503,J,705 pos_1: XI-OFF=0" +/- 0.1", pos_2: ETA-OFF=1" +/- 0.1", pos_3: FROM 1 equinox: 2000 ! targnum: 10 name_1: FFT9-I name_2: NGC1976 descr_1: G,503,J,705 pos_1: XI-OFF=-1" +/- 0.1", pos_2: ETA-OFF=0" +/- 0.1", pos_3: FROM 1 equinox: 2000 ! targnum: 11 name_1: REFSTAR name_2: NGC1976 descr_1: G,503,J,705 pos_1: RA=5H 35M 20.2S +/- 0.03S, pos_2: DEC=-5D 20' 57.0" +/- 0.5" equinox: 2000 ! ! end of fixed targets !
