Many of HST's major discoveries have come from line_3: just such imaging: including circumnuclear dust rings and disks (NGC 4261, line_4: M51), optical jets (NGC 3862), bright blue star clusters (NGC 1275), and line_5: stellar cusps (M87). These images can also detect fine structures from line_6: collisions/mergers, triaxiality, bars, biconical outflows/jets, and other line_7: interactions of the nucleus and its environment. HST's unparalleled post- line_8: COSTAR resolution of 0.1" corresponds to 40 pc at z=0.02 (H=75). This gives line_9: desired times for full white-light exposures (200--500 secs) which are line_10: well-matched to the typical integrations available in schedule gaps. The line_11: 400 targets--nearby Seyfert galaxies, LINERs and radiogalaxies at z<0.03-- line_12: are distributed around the sky. All observed targets will also be imaged line_13: from the ground at optical and radio wavelengths. Our program complements line_14: other work which will determine what small-scale structures are found line_15: in NORMAL galaxies.
