Our aim is to use the unparalleled line_3: resolution of Space Telescope to determine the fraction of binary/multiple line_4: systems amongst this complete, proper-motion selected sample. These line_5: observations, by concentrating on the lower-luminosity stars, offer line_6: the prospect of detecting cool, sub-stellar mass brown dwarfs, particularly line_7: given the relative youth of the Hyades. The 35 targets listed are all confirmed as Hyades members, both line_4: by their proper motions and by VRI photometry, and are drawn from a line_5: complete sample of 68 stars from the 110 square-degrees surveyed by line_6: Reid (1992 - MN 257, 257). We propose to use the F850LP filter in line_7: conjunction with the Planetary Camera on WFPC2 for these observations, line_8: with the targets selected in an operationally convenient manner.
