abstract:

line_1: Two distant clusters of galaxies, with redshifts from 0.70 to 0.92, will
line_2: be imaged in two colors corresponding to rest wavelengths of about 3400 and
line_3: 4500 angstroms. The primary object of the study is to investigate the color
line_4: and morphological evolution of cluster galaxies. Sufficient signal-to-noise
line_5: will be obtained for all objects to see spiral structure, if present, and all
line_6: fields contain starburst galaxies, whose morphology is of special interest.
line_7: In addition, the data will yield structural parameters for the bright cluster
line_8: galaxiess, which will aid in interpreting the classical Hubble diagram for
line_9: the determination of the deceleration parameter.

  question: 3
    section: 1
line_1: The observations consist of imaging a set of distant clusters in two
line_2: colors (except the most distant cluster, for which the rest 4500
line_3: angstrom filter corresponds to a passband beyond the red limit of our
line_4: instrument), with total exposures calculated to give comparable
line_5: signal-to-noise for all objects. Positions for two of the clusters
line_6: are still approximate and need to be verified with GASP, but all
line_7: orientations are final. We still need to decide whether to dither
line_8: the pointings slightly on the multiple exposures.

!

  question: 6
    section: 1
line_1: All the exposures are specified as non-interruptible. No separate CR
line_2: splits are called out because of the multiple exposures.

!

  question: 13
    section: 1
line_1: Three distant cluster will be studied using multicolor imaging to investigate
line_2: morphological and photometric evolution of galaxies and clusters. The data will
line_3: also be used to perform classical photometric and angular-diameter cosmological
line_4: tests. The redshift range covers clusters from 0.72 to 0.92. The clusters
    line_5: are: 1322+3115, 1322+3027, and 1603+4313.
