abstract:

    line_1:        This test performs the routine monitoring of the GHRS
    line_2:        detector dark noise.
    line_3:        This proposal will provide the primary means of checking on
    line_4:        health of the GHRS detector systems through frequent
    line_5:        monitoring of the background count rate.

    line_1:        Engineering mode "Photoscan" will be used. An integration
    line_2:        time of 10 seconds with 7 bins produces a readout every
    line_3:        70 seconds. It is necessary that each bin contain
    line_4:        consecutive 10 second integrations. 16 of these observations
    line_5:        provides 18.7 minutes of dark count data.
