Line 10 enables the MOC to dump the line_3: science tape recorder prior to the initiation of the servicing line_4: mission activities. It may be done either before, during or line_5: after the slew implied by line 20. (Standard operating line_6: procedures should be used to decide.) line_7: Line 20 defines the final attitude for the science SMS line_8: preceding the servicing mission activities. It must bring line_9: the SIs to their end-SMS configuration to allow the line_10: operations personnel to interrupt the science SMS and initiate line_11: the servicing mission SMS. Only the SI configuration and line_12: the HST pointing are significant for activity. ! question: 5 section: 1 line_1: The attitude required for this proposal is based on the line_2: requirements for the HST attitude when the shuttle attempts to line_3: capture the HST. The capture attitude requires that the HST be line_4: rotated with the sun out of the V1-V3 plane and so it is not line_5: possible to go to that attitude any substantial time before the line_6: capture attempt, however, it is possible to reduce the final line_7: maneuver, which is done just prior to capture, to a pure "roll" line_8: (ie, V1 rotation) by establishing the HST at the correct V1 line_9: pointing on the sky earlier. The attitude required by this line_10: proposal is the correct V1 pointing for HST capture with the sun line_11: in the V1-V3 plane (ie, nominal roll). The required V1 pointing line_12: places the sun in the V2-V3 plane with the -V1 axis along the HST line_13: velocity vector when the HST is directly between the Earth and line_14: the Sun (ie, Spacecraft Solar Noon) at the date and time of HST line_15: capture by shuttle. This position cahnges with time as the HST line_16: orbit precesses and the Earth moves around the Sun. The accuracy, line_17: with which this position must be maintained, is not high; within line_18: 1 degree of the proper pointing should be sufficient. Currently line_19: the HST capture is scheduled to occur at approximately MET line_20: 002:03:00:00. The target attitude must be consistent with the line_21: pointing requirements at this time. ! question: 5 section: 2 line_1: This proposal defines the attitude for HST at the transition point line_2: between the science and servicing mission activities. As a result line_3: it must be the last scheduled activity within the STScI science line_4: SMS. Currently the science SMS is inteded to end at 001:00:00:00 line_5: MET. This proposal defined the HST attitude and the Science line_6: Instrument configuration at the transition point. It must be line_7: scheduled in such a manner that results in no changes in attitude line_8: or SI configuration after it and prior to 001:00:00:00 MET. ! !end of general form text general_form_address: lname: Ochs fname: William category: PI inst: NASA city: Greenbelt state: MD country: USA phone: (301)286-2875 ! ! end of general_form_address records !
