Special emphasis is given to a thorough line_5: exploration of the Hg abundance and isotope anomalies to line_6: test diffusion scenarios. A wide ranging UV spectral survey line_7: at high resolution and high S/N will be conducted, with line_8: the objective of deriving accurate elemental abundances over line_9: as much of the periodic table as possible. Abundances of line_10: important r-process species, will be derived for the line_11: chemically peculiar B-type star 53 Tau. The stellar spectra line_12: will also be used as an "atomic physics" laboratory, to obtain line_13: basic information about the structure of and configuration line_14: interactions within complex atoms and ions. ! ! end of abstract general_form_proposers: lname: LECKRONE fname: DAVID mi: S. inst: NASA, GODDARD SPACE FLIGHT CENTER country: USA ! ! end of general_form_proposers block general_form_text: question: 4 section: 1 line_1: line_3: Described under 2. above and in the HRS proposal. ! question: 7 section: 1 line_1: line_4: Data will be analysed at the RDAF facility at GSFC. Model atmospheres and line_5: synthetic spectra will be computed with ATLAS-based codes currently running on line_6: the HRSVAX at the GSFC. ! question: 10 section: 1 line_1: line_4: All funded support will be obtained through direct transfer of funds from ST line_5: Project. In-house facilities for data analysis are described in 7. above. ! question: 13 section: 1 line_1: High resolution GHRS spectra of sharp-lined chemically line_2: peculiar B stars will be used to explore key abundance line_3: anomalies and to derive accurate elemental abundances over line_4: as much of the periodic table as possible. line_5: The key objectives are to thoroughly test and constrain scenarios line_6: for the production of abundance anomalies, and to obtain basic line_7: information about the chemical evolution of the ISM from which line_8: these stars formed. This study will stress the interdependency of line_9: atomic physics and astrophysics. ! !end of general form text general_form_address: lname: LECKRONE fname: DAVID mi: S. category: PI inst: NASA, GODDARD SPACE FLIGHT CENTER addr_1: CODE 681 city: GREENBELT state: MD zip: 20771 country: USA phone: 301-286-8904 telex: 89675 ! ! end of general_form_address records fixed_targets: targnum: 1 name_1: HD27295 name_2: 53TAU descr_1: BP HG MN STAR pos_1: RA=04H 16M 29.004S +/- 0.2", pos_2: DEC=+21D 01' 22.50" +/- 0.2" equinox: 1950 pm_or_par: Y pos_epoch_yr: 1958.52 ra_pm_val: 0.001267 ra_pm_unct: 0.000667 dec_pm_val: -0.0600 dec_pm_unct: 0.0100 rv_or_z: V=+12 fluxnum_1: 1 fluxval_1: V=5.35+/-.05, TYPE=BP fluxnum_2: 2 fluxval_2: F-CONT(1362)=9.2 E-11 fluxnum_3: 3 fluxval_3: F-CONT(2536)=4.1 E-11 fluxnum_4: 4 fluxval_4: F-CONT(1942)=7.2 E-11 fluxnum_5: 5 fluxval_5: F-CONT(1650)=9.4 E-11 fluxnum_6: 6 fluxval_6: F-CONT(1378)=9.3 E-11 fluxnum_7: 7 fluxval_7: F-CONT(1740)=8.7 E-11 fluxnum_8: 8 fluxval_8: F-CONT(1400)=9.7 E-11 fluxnum_9: 9 fluxval_9: F-CONT(2300)=5.5 E-11 fluxnum_10: 10 fluxval_10: F-CONT(2700)=3.6 E-11 ! ! end of fixed targets !
