The short line_5: CR-SPLIT observations for the long exposures will provide an intermediate I line_6: exposure, and considered an integral part of the program. For some of the line_7: objects, the short exposures are omitted because they will be obtained with the line_8: PC as part of a joint GTO proposal with the Astrometry team. ! question: 6 section: 1 line_1: Dark time and uninterrupted exposures are required to maximize signal/noise. line_3: For all exposures >=1000sec, we request dark time. This is needed to minimize line_4: scattered light. By dark time we mean that the telescope should be beyond the line_5: brightly lit limb of the Earth in the dark half of the orbit. We do not require line_6: that the telescope actually be within the Earth's shadow. See note on exposure line_7: logsheet. The above guidline of 1000 sec may need revision after experience in line_8: orbit. ! question: 8 section: 1 line_1: Small position adjustments (~40 arcsec for the WFC and ~17 arcsec for the PC) line_2: will be required in order to center the object of interest on one of the CCDs. line_3: The CCD chosen will in general be one for which saturated images on the frame line_4: do not overflow in a direction which runs through features of interest. This line_5: will depend on the orientation of the telescope at the time of the observation. line_6: It may also sometimes require constraints on the roll angle, although this can line_7: probably generally be avoided. ! question: 13 section: 1 line_1: The aims of the program are (1) to detect, and to study the morphology of line_2: galaxies underlying QSOs and AGNs, galaxies associated with them in groups and line_3: clusters, and associated structures such as jets; (2) to detect bright nuclear line_4: and extranuclear structures on small angular scales; (3) to detect and examine line_5: additional images and lensing galaxies in gravitational lenses; (4) to detect line_6: extended emission line structure in quasars. ! !end of general form text general_form_address: lname: WESTPHAL fname: JAMES mi: A. category: PI inst: CALTECH ! lname: KRISTIAN fname: JEROME category: CON inst: MT.
