This is an line_3: essential calibration procedure which must be done in order to properly observe line_4: with the HSP. By comparing the derived aperture positions with those from line_5: ground-testing, any systematic shifts of the projected aperture pattern can be line_6: ascertained. ! question: 3 section: 1 line_1: The observations consist of illuminating the aperture plates of each line_2: IDT, using the earth, and performing an IDT area scan of selected line_3: filter strips and apertures. line_5: Bright earth is used for IDTs #2 and #4 (UV1 and UV2) line_6: . The scans of the filter line_7: strips will be 16 X 60 pixels in size, taken at 0.4 arcsec steps, with line_8: a sample time of 10 msec.
