In this century, only about a dozen line_3: such features were prominent enough to yield reliable rotation rates and line_4: latitudes. None have produced the longitudinal spreading we observe. We line_5: propose to use the PC in six filters to characterize the "white spot" and the line_6: associated disturbance in the Saturnian atmosphere. The F336W will look at line_7: the features high in the atmosphere. The F439W filter which gives the highest line_8: contrast of the "white spot" will tie these observations with the previous line_9: data set. F718M which with the F439W and the F547M will give a color triplet line_10: and combined with F588N and F889N, will sample methane absorption in the line_11: atmosphere. Using small features we will determine whether there is organized line_12: circulation in the cloud system and will measure the vorticity at various line_13: locations. Measurement of the zonal (east-west) velocity more than eight years line_14: after the Voyager encounter will reveal whether the winds have changed. The line_15: ratio of the F336W with the F439W should allow the separation of high altitude line_16: features that have different scattering properties. Voyager experience with line_17: data in the near UV revealed significant changes in contast of various features line_18: which provided additional constraints on the atmospheric models. The longer line_19: wavelengths, sensitive to methane absorption could not be observed with Voyager line_20: and will reveal new information concerning vertical structure within the line_21: atmosphere.
