Excellent ground-based images of this field also exist and will line_5: be compared. The exposure sequence is repeated once at a slightly line_6: different pointing. Exposures are taken in NGC188 in Prop 3014 to determine line_7: the point-spread function. ! ! end of abstract general_form_proposers: lname: WESTPHAL fname: JAMES mi: A. inst: CALTECH country: USA ! ! end of general_form_proposers block general_form_text: question: 3 section: 1 line_1: Exposures of various lengths are taken of the center of the cluster line_2: M15 in F336W. The U filter is used to select turnoff G dwarfs and line_3: suppress the bright red giants. The cluster was originally included line_4: in the WFPC GTO program as a core collapse cluster. Its inclusion line_5: in the SAT program will provide UV images in an extremely crowded line_6: region for which excellent-quality, good-seeing groundbased data line_7: (taken with the NTT at ESO) also exist. It is a good test of the line_8: imaging capabilities of HST. ! question: 4 section: 1 line_1: Instrument calibration. ! question: 5 section: 1 line_1: The point-spread function sequence in NGC188 in 3014 should be taken near in line_2: time to M15; the secondary mirror focus and collimation should line_3: not be changed between these observations. The camera should be UV- line_4: flooded (if we are using a flood), and the interim telescope collimation line_5: and focus adopted. ! question: 6 section: 1 line_1: Avoid the SAA for all exposures. ! question: 13 section: 1 line_1: Ultraviolet exposures in the nucleus of M15 will be line_5: made to investigate the near-UV imaging properties of HST. ! !end of general form text general_form_address: lname: WESTPHAL fname: JAMES mi: A. category: PI inst: CALTECH ! lname: LIGHT fname: ROBERT category: CON inst: WFPC TEAM addr_1: BOWIE STATE UNIVERSITY addr_2: 14000 JERICHO PARK ROAD city: BOWIE state: MD zip: 20715 country: USA phone: 301-464-9624 ! lname: FABER fname: SANDRA category: CON inst: WFPC TEAM addr_1: BOWIE STATE UNIVERSITY addr_2: 14000 JERICHO PARK ROAD city: BOWIE state: MD zip: 20715 country: USA phone: 301-464-9624 ! ! end of general_form_address records fixed_targets: targnum: 1 name_1: M15 descr_1: GLOBULAR CLUSTER pos_1: RA= 21H27M33.3S +/-0.1S, pos_2: DEC= +11D56'49" +/-1" equinox: 1950. pm_or_par: NO comment_1: B-V=0.68 ALSO FOR FLUX DATA fluxnum_1: 1 fluxval_1: SURF(V) = 13.5 ! targnum: 2 name_1: M15-OFF descr_1: ^ pos_1: RA= 21H27M33.3S +/-0.1S, pos_2: DEC= +11D56'39" +/-1" equinox: ^ pm_or_par: ^ comment_1: B-V=0.68 ALSO FOR FLUX DATA fluxnum_1: 1 fluxval_1: SURF(V) = 13.5 ! ! end of fixed targets !
