Oort Cloud objects line_4: are believed to be rich in frozen volatiles (chiefly water) and organic line_5: molecules. The energetic flux of a bright nova may trigger significant line_6: activity from a large fraction of an Oort Cloud's population. The HST's unique line_7: ability to obtain high-resolution filtered images in the ultraviolet is line_8: critical to this proposal, since the OH (3085 A and 2820 A bands) line_9: products of water evaporation and dissociation processes in a remote line_10: Oort Cloud are potentially observable using the Wide Field line_11: Camera. Detection of an Oort Cloud would be a substantial result.
