HST line_6: observations will reveal details of the immediate line_7: environment of quasars, the nuclei of normal galaxies, the line_8: morphology of peculiar galaxies, and the star density in line_9: selected fields. The purpose of this program is to increase line_10: the efficiency of the HST and to provide scientific data line_11: that can be used by many different astronomers. The images line_12: acquired in this program will be non-proprietary and will be line_13: made available to qualified astronomers via the HST archival line_14: system. With the approval of the Director of STScI, the line_15: images can also be used for public relations purposes by line_16: appropriate NASA anad STScI personnel. ! ! end of abstract general_form_proposers: lname: ASTRONOMER fname: JOE title: DR. inst: SPACE TELESCOPE SCIENCE INSTITUTE country: USA ! ! end of general_form_proposers block general_form_text: question: 3 section: 1 line_1: Images drawn from a set of several hundred targets will be line_2: taken with the Wide Field/Planetary Camera whenever there is line_3: a substantial time gap between previously scheduled line_4: observations. The images will be taken through the line_5: F555W filter, and the exposure length will be the line_6: maximum time that can be allowed without impacting the line_7: scheduled observations. No relative priorities have been line_8: given to the individual observations as the order of line_9: observation will be decided solely by whichever target will line_10: produce a minimum of HST motion when an unscheduled block line_11: of time occurs. ! question: 4 section: 1 line_1: This proposal is designed to increase the efficiency of the line_2: HST. ! question: 5 section: 1 line_1: The exposure time for each observation will depend upon the line_2: amount of unscheduled HST time. ! question: 6 section: 1 line_1: Justification for any special calibrations, use of dark line_2: time, or uninterupted exposures goes here. ! question: 7 section: 1 line_1: Data will be stored in the HST archive system and made line_2: available on a non-proprietary basis to anyone authorized by line_3: STScI who wishes to use the images for astronomical research. line_4: On special occasions, the Director of STScI may decide that line_5: some of the images may be used by NASA personnel or line_6: authorized scientists. ! question: 8 section: 1 line_1: Targets must be examined on the GSSS display system to make line_2: certain that there are no unacceptably bright stars in the line_3: field.
