The sky data will be obtained at high galactic line_4: latitude, low galactic latitude, and in the ecliptic plane, line_5: to determine if there are any differences in the sky line_6: spectrum. These observations will allow us to determine when line_7: sky measurements will be required for science data. The dark line_8: measurements will be obtained with a variety of SIs prime, line_9: to test for any EMI problems, and during SAA passages, to line_10: determine if science observations are possible during this line_11: period. Some sky observations will be read from two line_12: different portions of the photocathode, to check if the dark line_13: count is position dependent. If it is not, then normal line_14: science dark measurements can be obtained by changing the line_15: y-base, rather than closing the entrance aperture, thus line_16: allowing for more efficient observing. line_18: This observation is a modified version of proposal 1316 to supply line_19: fixed target pointings for generic targets for use in GST5. ! ! end of abstract general_form_proposers: lname: ANGEL fname: ROGER inst: UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA country: USA ! lname: MARGON fname: BRUCE inst: UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON country: USA ! lname: BARTKO fname: FRANK inst: MARTIN MARIETTA CORPORATION country: USA ! lname: DAVIDSEN fname: ARTHUR inst: JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY country: USA ! lname: HARMS fname: RICHARD title: PI inst: APPLIED RESEARCH CORPORATION country: USA ! lname: BOHLIN fname: RALPH inst: SPACE TELESCOPE SCIENCE INSTITUTE country: USA ! lname: FORD fname: HOLLAND inst: SPACE TELESCOPE SCIENCE INSTITUTE country: USA ! lname: BEAVER fname: EDWARD inst: UNVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN DIEGO country: USA ! lname: BURBIDGE fname: E. mi: M. inst: UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN DIEGO country: USA ! ! end of general_form_proposers block general_form_text: question: 3 section: 1 line_1: In this test, we will obtain data on the sky and dark backgrounds. Sky line_2: measurements will be obtain at high galactic latitude, low galactic latitude, line_3: and the eclitpic plane, using the low dispersion gratings and the prism. Both line_4: detectors will be used, and data read from two different positions on the line_5: photocathode. The observations will be repeated as often as possible. line_7: Dark measurements will be obtained using both detectors. line_8: Data will be obtained with a variety of SIs prime, to test line_9: for an EMI problems, and data will be taken inside the SAA, line_10: to see if it may be possible to observe in this area. The line_11: observations will be repeated as often as possible. line_13: If possible, schedule the exposures up to 90 minutes in line_14: length with a readout every 5 minutes. Do not schedule the line_15: exposures for less than 30 minutes. ! question: 5 section: 1 line_1: GST5 POINTING INFORMATION: line_3: A HIGH GALACTIC POINTING IN FIELD NGC104 HAS BEEN SELECTED. line_4: PRIME TARGET IS OBSERVED IN PROPOSAL 1508 (FOC-04) EXPOSURE line_5: LOGSHEET LINES 6 & 7. ! question: 6 section: 1 line_1: This test is not stray light sensitive. ! question: 7 section: 1 line_1: Data reduction will be performed at the ST ScI, and the analysis will be line_2: performed using FOS IDT computer facilities.
