Assuming line_3: the ground-based value is close, the y-base for the G190H line_4: grating, used in subsequent tests, is determined using the line_5: Pt-Ne lamp. These observations are perform with both line_6: detectors. line_8: This program has a high priority compared with other OV line_9: activities. This program will result in a data base change line_10: to the table of y-bases. ! ! end of abstract general_form_proposers: lname: ANGEL fname: ROGER inst: UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA country: USA ! lname: MARGON fname: BRUCE inst: UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON country: USA ! lname: BARTKO fname: FRANK inst: APPLIED RESEARCH CORPORATON country: USA ! lname: DAVIDSEN fname: ARTHUR inst: JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY country: USA ! lname: HARMS fname: RICHARD inst: APPLIED RESEARCH CORPORATON country: USA ! lname: BOHLIN fname: RALPH inst: SPACE TELESCOPE SCIENCE INSTITUTE country: USA ! lname: BURBIDGE fname: E. mi: M. inst: UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN DIEGO country: USA ! lname: BEAVER fname: EDWARD inst: UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN DIEGO country: USA ! lname: FORD fname: HOLLAND inst: STSCI country: USA ! ! end of general_form_proposers block general_form_text: question: 2 section: 0 line_1: Measurements of the internal TA-LED and Pt-Ne lamp, line_2: obtained when other SIs are prime, will allow us to line_3: determine the location of spectra for selected line_4: aperture/disperser combinations. This is the first set of line_5: on-orbit y-scanned illuminations, which will allow us to line_6: roughly locate the images from the various apertures and line_7: optical elements on each detector photocathode. line_8: Comparison with prelaunch calibration data will check for line_9: major deviations in these positions. A repetition of the line_10: full set of y-scans with finer y-spatial resolution (in line_11: later SV tests) will allow us to derive exact tables of line_12: y-deflection values for use in all normal operations. ! question: 3 section: 1 line_1: In this test, we will obtain data on the internal TA-LED and line_2: Pt-Ne lamps. Data will be obtained through the 0.5-PAIR and line_3: 0.5" apertures for grating G190H and the MIRROR, respectively. line_4: The MIRROR observation is with very fine y-steps to be line_5: certain the y-base is found. The G190H observations assumes line_6: the ground-based value is close, and is thus performed with a line_7: more restriction y-range. The calibration of this grating is line_8: critical to subsequent proposals. ! question: 3 section: 2 line_1: Although we are using the IMAGE mode, the data actually consists line_2: of n individual spectra, where n is the number of y-steps. line_3: We will need to look at the individual spectra in each IMAGE, line_4: unlike a typical target acquisition IMAGE. Also, we will need line_5: to read all 512 channels, rather than the smaller number line_6: (~20) typically read for a target acquisition IMAGE. If the line_7: individual spectra cannot be viewed, then we will need to line_8: change from IMAGE mode to ACCUM mode. ! question: 4 section: 0 line_1: Not applicable. ! question: 5 section: 0 line_1: All observations are parallel. line_3: These observations should be performed 90 minutes line_4: after the slow high voltage increase programs (FOS060/070, line_5: Prop=2163). The Focus and X-pitch program (FOS615/715, line_6: Prop=2189) is to be performed 4 days after this program, line_7: with the y-bases determine here inserted into the PDB during line_8: the 4 day wait. ! question: 6 section: 0 line_1: This test is not stray light sensitive. All observations are line_2: internal Pt-Ne lamp and TA-LED measurements. ! question: 7 section: 0 line_1: Data reduction will be performed at the ST ScI, and the analysis will be line_2: performed using FOS IDT computer facilities. This is a verification of line_3: ground-based analysis, so no data will need to be added to the PODPS pipeline. line_4: However, this program will determine the correct y-deflections to be used in line_5: obtaining data, and this information will need to be updated after any change line_6: in position is measured. ! question: 9 section: 0 line_1: Not applicable. ! question: 10 section: 0 line_1: Data analysis, research assistant support, and funding will be provided under line_2: NASA's FOS development contract NAS 5-24463. ! !end of general form text general_form_address: lname: HARMS fname: RICHARD category: PI inst: APPLIED RESEARCH CORPORATION country: USA ! ! end of general_form_address records !
