The focussing procedure on the ground is then based on line_6: the analysis of the edge function associated with the image of the line_7: extended source behind the spectrographic finger. line_9: ii) Point source - the procedure is based on 5 observations of a rich stellar line_10: field, 47 Tuc, one taken at the nominal focus setting, two taken at line_11: increments of 20 steps in the positive direction of the refocussing line_12: mechanism, two more at settings in the negative direction. The line_13: obvservations should be repeated with one or two filters in order to line_14: confirm the earlier ground measurements of optical path difference. The line_15: resulting best focus position requires uplinking into the NSSC-1 memory. line_17: iii) UV Standard - This target will be positioned at 5 different positions in line_18: the F/48 main aperture while the spectrograph mode is utilized.
