Lupie, R. Bohlin, and A. Holm. line_5: This program has the highest priority. Phases I to III must be completed line_6: before attempting observations of any other stellar targets. line_8: This program will result in a data base change to the table of aperture line_9: locations. line_11: Revised 9/15/89 to match Implementation Plan. ! ! end of abstract general_form_proposers: lname: BARTKO fname: FRANK inst: ARC country: USA ! lname: HARMS fname: RICHARD inst: ARC country: USA ! lname: ANGEL fname: ROGER inst: UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA country: USA ! lname: MARGON fname: BRUCE inst: UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON country: USA ! lname: DAVIDSEN fname: ARTHUR inst: JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY country: USA ! lname: BOHLIN fname: RALPH inst: SPACE TELESCOPE SCIENCE INSTITUTE country: USA ! lname: FORD fname: HOLLAND inst: SPACE TELESCOPE SCIENCE INSTITUTE country: USA ! lname: BEAVER fname: EDWARD inst: UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN DIEGO country: USA ! lname: BURBIDGE fname: MARGARET inst: UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN DIEGO country: USA ! ! end of general_form_proposers block general_form_text: question: 2 section: 0 line_1: See abstract. ! question: 3 section: 0 line_1: Phase IIIa of Aperture Locations will provide a fine measure of the edges of line_2: the 4.3 arcsec acquisition aperture in V2V3 coordinates. If fine aperture maps line_3: are obtained at each pointing, the program will also produce a measure of the line_4: distortion that the edge of the aperture causes in apparent location of a star. line_5: The much more efficient mode of just recording the total counts at each line_6: pointing will define the edge position to be where the count rate falls to one line_7: half of the maximum. Four linear scan sequences perpendicular to the edge and line_8: centered on each edge are performed for the 4.3 arcsec aperture. The scan line_9: length is 0.5 arcsec and the step size should be 0.03 arcsec. line_15: The program begins with a TALED aperture map to determine the current line_16: location of the aperture in detector coordinates, to verify our ability to line_17: position a star at the center of the aperture, and to optimize the detector line_18: Y-BASE values during the edge step and dwell sequence. line_20: The value for the Y parameter is based on ground data. These line_21: values will need to be updated based on in-orbit y-bases line_22: measured from data in proposal 2188, which is performed at line_23: least 8 days prior to this program, or set Y-OFFSET=+/-384. ! question: 5 section: 0 line_1: line_3: Schedule this proposal 4D +/- 1D after completion of 1442, line_4: FOS-OV 90/91, Aperture Location Phase II. line_6: Spatial scans are specified in spacecraft/aperture coordinates. line_10: The dwell times on the Spatial Scan Forms are determined line_11: as follows: line_12: ....SI overhead: line_13: .............dump UDL log 30 seconds line_14: .............issue BEG ACQ/END ACQ 15 seconds line_15: ....Exposure time: 4 seconds line_16: ....Slew Time: 10 seconds line_18: Pointing stability of 10% of the smallest aperture (4.3") line_19: used - 0.43" - is required. line_21: Proposal 2748 - SAA dark measurements, must occur at least 4 days prior line_22: to this program. ! question: 7 section: 0 line_1: Data reduction will be performed at the ST ScI, using FOS IDT computer line_2: hardware. The results of this aperture location calibration are relevant to line_3: the project data base, so that the priority is very high. Data from Phases I - line_4: III must be reduced before any other observations using stellar targets can be line_5: attempted. ! !end of general form text general_form_address: lname: HARMS fname: RICHARD category: PI inst: APPLIED RESEARCH CORPORATION addr_1: 8201 CORPORATE DRIVE, addr_2: SUITE 920 city: LANDOVER state: MD zip: 20785 country: USA phone: 301-458-8442 ! ! end of general_form_address records fixed_targets: targnum: 1 name_1: NGC-188-031 name_2: GSSS4619-2765 descr_1: STAR IN NGC 188 pos_1: RA=00H 40M 03.20S +/- 0.01S, pos_2: DEC=+84D 55' 25.61" +/- 0.02", pos_3: PLATE-ID=ZZZZ equinox: 1950 pm_or_par: Y pos_epoch_yr: 1950.00 ra_pm_val: -0.000247 ra_pm_unct: 0.000027 dec_pm_val: -0.0088 dec_pm_unct: 0.0005 comment_1: THE GSSS NAME IS GIVEN. fluxnum_1: 1 fluxval_1: V=15.08 fluxnum_2: 2 fluxval_2: B=15.72 ! ! end of fixed targets !
