We will search for emission lines of C III, line_8: Si III, C IV, Si IV, and N V in very deep specta. Upper line_9: limits to the strength of these emission lines will place line_10: stringent constraints on possible nonradiative heating line_11: processes. Observations of weak intersystem lines will line_12: provide estimates of the electron density needed for line_13: atmospheric modeling. We will attempt to determine whether line_14: the hot plasma (and the required heating) are global or line_15: isolated to small regions on the star due to magnetic fields line_16: or stochastic heating processes. Two of these stars are line_17: Hyades Cluster giants, one with no evidence of hot lines line_18: and the other with strong emission lines that may be due line_19: to the presence of a close binary component. ! ! end of abstract general_form_proposers: lname: LINSKY fname: JEFFREY mi: L. inst: COLORADO, UNIVERSITY OF country: USA ! lname: BROWN fname: ALEXANDER inst: COLORADO, UNIVERSITY OF country: USA ! ! end of general_form_proposers block general_form_text: question: 3 section: 1 line_1: We request HRS observations of 5 stars with various grating settings line_2: for each.
