What's new in Calnic-C

VersionRelease Notes
2.6.5Brings Calnic-C in sync with NICMOSlook 2.6.5, i.e. new grismspec.dat format and other calibration files are handeled correctly. Note that Calnic-C does NOT correct for PRF, since this needs interaction.
2.5.7Fixed a problem in Calnic-C which caused FITS spectral tables to be unreadable using NICMOSlook
2.5.5Improved the implementation of the WCS based registration.
WARNING: The format of the order.conf file in the CALIB directory has changed and is not compatible with previous versions of NICMOSlook or Calnic-C.
2.5.4A few minor bug fixes
2.5.2Now properly uses the WCS to compute the coodinates of a spectra in the grism frame based on the position of the object in the direct images. Pixels sizes are assumes to be the same, but the image sizes do not need to be identical.
2.5.0Supports extraction of any spectral order.
Can either mark or extract a particular spectral order through the use of the file order.conf in the $NICMOSLOOK_BASE/calib directory
Properly avoid regions occupied by all the spectral order spectra (Those that are not explicitely set to be ignored) when estimating the backgound using linear interpolation
Object list now includes RA and DEC of objects. These are read back in and take precendent over the x,y pixel coordinates in the object list if FROMWCS is set to 1 in calnicc.setup.
2.3.7New response curves added w/ error bars.
2.3.6Display of RA on spectral output is no longer truncated.
Sample data updated.
2.3.5Type of extraction performed is now correctly reported on spectral output
2.3.4New flatfields setup. Now uses nref format flatfields
2.3.3Minor bug fix release
2.3.2Reads and displays Calnic-C and NICMOSlook spectra FITS tables.
The format of calnic_archive.cat was changed
Changed the name of the output FITS table to *_SPC.fits
Added parameter POS_ERR to estimate the error (in pixel) in the position estimates of objects in the direct image (Used to compute final spectral error bars).
2.3.1New weights computed and integrated in the calib directory.
PS previews of the direct and grism images are now produced with the object and spectra location clearly labeled.
Color was added to the spectral plots
Keyword UNITS was added to the FITS table header
Parameter PUNITSW added to calnicc.setup to set the default units to use when displaying/outputting spectra.
Added Bkg Sub status to the spectral plots
2.3.0New wavelength solutions, flux calibration, and background estimates for G096 and G141 now integrated in the calib directory.
Spectra are now properly calibrated in DN/s, mJy, or Erg/cm^2/s.
OBJECT_KEY in fitskeywords.dat defines the name to use on the actual plots.
Nw option to use DTQ info to ignore some bad pixels
New parameters NODEBL and NOWEIGH added to calnicc.setup to control the Calnic-C extraction process. These are setable from NICMOSLook too.
