Extraction Weights

Spectral extraction is accomplished with the help of a weight matrix to calculate the flux vector for each wavelength. The extraction weights used to extract spectra and compute their associated errors need to be related to the size of the object of interest. We distinguish between two types of objects: point source objects (e.g. stars) and extended objects (e.g. galaxies).
