Scientific Justification. This proposal specifies the observations that should be scheduled to test the ability of the ground system to plan and schedule Gyro-Handoff observations. THIS PROPOSAL IS A TEST PROPOSAL AND SHOULD NOT BE EXECUTED AGAINST ANY HARDWARE. Page 3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5. Description of special scheduling requirements. A full description of the proposal test cases is defined here. Case 1 - FGS Pause during final observation This case demonstrates a FGS Pause to Gyro Control during the second observation of a two alignment SU. A SAM occurs followed by the Pause to Gyro. Case 2 - FGS Pause prior to final observation. In this case the usability window ends before the last science begins. A Reacquisition occurs, followed by the Pause to Gyro followed by a MRSAM. Case 3 - Usability window ends between FGS visability periods. Scenario should result in same scheduling as Case 2. A Reacquisition occurs, followed by the Pause to Gyro followed by a MRSAM. Case 4 - Usability ends at same time visibility ends. Scenario should result in same scheduling as Case 2. A Reacquisition occurs, followed by the Pause to Gyro followed by a MRSAM. Case 5 - Usability window ends during first observation of two alignment SU. Pause to Gyro occurs during first alignment, followed by MRSAM, second alignment takes place under gyro control in next visibility period. Special Case 1: This case is a four alignment SU. The first alignment has the pointing mode set to fixed. The second alignment has the mustusegyro flag set to Y. The third and fourth are normal, but the fourth alignment will need to be scheduled with a pause. Special Case 2: This case is a two alignment SU with both having the pointing mode set to fixed. A pause will occur for this SU and no tracking will occur. Case A - Done with guiding tolerance = 2.0". Case B - Done with guiding tolerance = 4.0". Note: There is no case 5A, but there are 2 cases 5B. First alignment will take place at the end of a visibility period such that the second alignment must be scheduled in the next visibility period. In that period, a MRSAM will take place followed by the Reacquisition. The guide star period will end before the end of the observation. This will cause a Pause to Gyro Control. ---- Case #2A ---------------- Line 32.0-32.1 ---- ------------------------------ Two alignment SU with guide tolerance = 2.0 This SU will be used to create the Scenario 2 Testcase. First alignment will take place at the end of a visibility period such that the second alignment must be scheduled in the next visibility period. In that period, the guide star usability will end prior to the start of the track. In this case a Reacquisition will take place followed by the Pause to Gyro Control, followed by a MRSAM. ---- Case #3A ---------------- Line 33.0-33.1 ---------------------------------- Two alignment SU with guide tolerance = 2.0 This SU will be used to create the Scenario 3 Testcase. First alignment will take place at the end of a visibility period such that the second alignment must be scheduled in the next visibility period. The guide star usability will end prior to the start of the next visibility period. In this case a Reacquisition will take place followed by the Pause to Gyro Control, followed by a MRSAM. ---- Case #4A ---------------- Line 34.0-34.1 ---------------------------------- Two alignment SU with guide tolerance = 2.0 This SU will be used to create the Scenario 4 Testcase. First alignment will take place at the end of a visibility period such that the second alignment must be scheduled in the next visibility period. The guide star usability window will end at the end of the first alignment's visibility period. In this case a Reacquisition will take place followed by the Pause to Gyro Control, followed by a MRSAM. ---- Case #5B ---------------- Line 35.0-35.1 ----- ----------------------------- Two alignment SU with guide tolerance = 4.0 This SU will be used to create the Scenario 5 Testcase. First alignment will take place at the end of a visibility period such that the second alignment must be scheduled in the next visibility period. The guide star usability window will during the first alignment's observation. In this case, a pause will be scheduled during the first observation, followed by a MRSAM. The second alignment's observation will begin still under gyro control in the second visibility period. ------------------------------ Line 36.0-41.1 ---------------------------------- Additional Two alignment SUs with Guide Tolerance = 4.0 These are used to create additional tests the resemble the Scenarios. However with the higher guide tolerance it is possible that a pause may take place in the first visibility period such that a reacquistion is unnecessary. This results in a much higher Drift Error.
