Abstract This proposal defines the decontamination procedure to be run during cycle 5. A variety of internal images are taken before and after the decontamination in order to verify its success. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Observations Description ------------------------ Before and after each decontamination, a set of internals are taken: 2 biases (gain 7), 2 biases (gain 15), 2 F555W intflats (10S at gain 7), 2 F555W intflats (20S at gain 15), 2 kspots (one at 1.0 S, one at 2.6 S, both gain 15), and finally, 5 darks (gain 7, serials=off). Intflats must be taken without interruption; each set of internals should be grouped within two days. Decontamination procedure is performed 33H +/- 12H after first set of internals; final set of internals is done 12H +/- 12H after decon. IMPORTANT SCHEDULING NOTES: 1) Please do the internals as close as possible before and after a decon. 2) The DARKS in each visit should be done within 2 days. 3) PLEASE DO NOT INTERSPERSE OTHER WFPC2 SCIENCE OBSERVATIONS IN-BETWEEN THE FIVE DARKS IN EACH VISIT. THIS IS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT FOR PRE-DECON EXPOSURES. We are worried about residuals from bright targets appearing in the darks.
