Abstract The aim of these observations is to determine the Post-COSTAR plate- scale of the FOC/96 (f/151) camera and to provide geometric correction for all of the supported FOC/96 imaging formats. It is a new version of the last half of the 5521 proposal which was not executed properly. Description of proposed observations. The platescale of the f/96 relay will be determined by comparing these observations of the center of 47-Tuc with an identical field which was obtained and calibrated as part of the Cycle 3 platescale monitoring proposal (4231). The geometric distortion is determined from the overlapping observations of the crowded field which are used to fit a geometric distortion model and determine the undistorted positions of the stars in the field. These fit "undistorted" positions are then used to determine the distortion models for other formats. Even though the smaller formats use the postions obtained from larger formats, they still use a small number of overlapping exposures to increase the density of measured points, particularly in the x direction, which is needed given the smaller spatial scale of geometric distortion variations for the smaller formats. It is necessary to do a general fit to the star positions for both the zoomed and normal pixel formats since the positions determined from the zoomed format are not as accurate as would be determined from the normal pixel formats. The two long exposures at the beginning are designed to ensure that the external exposures are taken after a long warm-up period of the high-voltage power supply. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 11.
