Abstract Flat fields will be obtained with the photometric filter set (F336W, F439W, F555W, F675W and F814W), using the visible cal-channel lamp (VISFLAT). They will be used to monitor WFPC2's flat field response and to build a high S/N flat field database. UV flat fields will be obtained with the cal-channel's ultraviolet lamp (UVFLAT) using the UV filter set (F170W, F160BW and F336W). The UV flats will be used to monitor UV flat field stability and the stability of the Woods filter (F160BW) by using F170W as the control. The VISFLAT/UVFLAT ratio from the F336W flat fields will provide a diagnostic of the UV flat field stability and tie the UVFLAT and VISFLAT flat field patterns to a common baseline. A VISFLAT exposure with the Woods' filter (F160BW) allows its visible transmission to be monitored. Two VISFLAT exposures obtained through the LRF (FR533N), one at each gain, provide a monitor of the ADC's performance. Histograms generated from the ramp filter flats will be used to trace the ADC transfer curve. Two supplemental dark frames are obtained with CLOCKS=ON for the purpose of calibrating science frames and monitoring the dark current rate for this mode of operation. The VISFLAT and UVFLAT exposures have been packed to optimize use of each lamp-on cycle. Description of proposed observations. These data are obtained to monitor: 1) Flat field repeatability with time through the main photometric filter set. The flat field data from this will be combined and used in the generation of high signal to noise flat fields. 2) the ratio of INTFLAT to VISFLAT flat fields through the same filter provides a monitor of the stability of the cal-channel tungsten lamps. 3) UV flats will be used to monitor UV throughout, the buildup of contaminants on the CCD windows and to generate higher signal to noise flat fields for UV observations, since the flux from individual UV flats is relatively low. 4) The ratio of F336W (VISFLATS)and F336W (UVFLAT) flat fields will be used to monitor the stability of the UV lamp and tie the UV flat fields to the visible flat fields. 5) The ratio of the F170W and F160BW will be used to monitor the Woods filter throughput. 5) The F160BW VISFLAT is used to monitor for an increase in the filter's red-leak. 6) The ramp filter flat fields are used to generate image histograms which can be used to monitor the transfer functions of the ADCs. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5.
