Description of proposed observations. Knowledge of the line-spread-function (LSF) for large (LSA) aperture GHRS is essential for any quantitative analysis of spectra taken through the LSA. This is independent of any deconvolution issues. This test will provide LSF information for the ECH-A and G140L gratings. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5. Description of special scheduling requirements. Exposure times are selected to yield S/N about 100 for LSA, and 70, or greater, for SSA. These are levels required for adequate extraction of the relative PSF relating the two apertures. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 7. Data reduction and analysis plans. Data will be analyzed at the ST ScI using fully developed and tested software. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 13. High signal-to-noise spectra will be obtained through both GHRS apertures at three basic wavelengths chosen to: 1) well span the full UV wavelength range accessible to the GHRS 2) provide scientifically valuable spectra. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 11.
