Abstract This proposal monitors the stability of the FOS wavelength scale. All standard gratings are used with the 0.3"circle and either the 0.1" or 0.25" paired apertures. The WAVECAL lamp has a fairly constant output, so that these data are a secondary monitor of any changes in the FOS internal sensitivity. Measurements of the Pt-Ne lamp will be obtained with both FOS digicons when other SI's are prime. These observations will be used to determine the wavelength scale for all disperser/detector combinations using the smallest apertures, as per CAL/FOS-48 (Oct. 1988) by Hartig. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3. Description of proposed observations. Measurements of the Pt-Ne lamp will be obtained with both FOS detectors. The observation, taken through the smallest square (0.1-PAIR) and circular (0.3) apertures, will be used to determine accurate wavelength scales for all disperser/detector combinations. These observations should be repeated throughout the mission to check for stability. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5. Description of special scheduling requirements. All observations can be scheduled in parallel or as internals Observations have been structured into groups no longer than approximately 25 minutes to facilitate scheduling as interleavers in occultation. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 6. Description of special calibration exposures. All observations are internal Pt-Ne lamp measurements. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 7. Data reduction and analysis plans. Data reduction will be performed at the ST ScI, and the analysis will be performed using FOS IDT computer facilities.
