Abstract This proposal defines 2 sets of standard detector tests; a very short set will be run 4 times per year for each detector, and a longer set will be run as needed for each detector. The GHRS digicons require several internal calibrations to be performed periodically.This proposal is defined so that an abbreviated test can check the detectors quaterly, and the full test be performed AS NEEDED. This gives us confidence in the stability of the detectors, but will not require an unreasonably large amount of time. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3. Description of proposed observations. The short test to be run includes: 1) 70 second dark count measurement 2) focus check at nominal HV and tweak 3) 28 sec flat field lamp obs at center coords. 4) sample mapping function at center Y def. 5) line mapping function at center X def. The longer test to be run as needed includes: 1) complete PMAP 2) complete sample mapping function (MSKSCN) 3) complete line mapping function (TOPBOTSCN) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4. Justification of need for HST observations. These same calibrations were run on Side 2 several times during ground based testing in Boulder, and were repeated during A&V, OV, SV, Cycle 1, Cycle 2 and Cycle 3. Periodic repeats of this proposal are necessary to ensure the stability of the detectors. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5. Description of special scheduling requirements. Exposure times were specified based on measured count rates with the internal flat field lamps, and the requirement to obtain approximately 10000 counts per diode. There are no external targets, and no special pointing requirements. All of these observations should be scheduled as interleavers. Both the short and long test contain several exposures. None of the individual exposures exceeds 12 minutes. I have asked that for each test its individual components be grouped within 24 hours. Execute after successful completion of 5275 and before 5277. This proposal requires and OK from J. Skapik. It may also be executed PRIOR to the COSTAR/GHRS deployment. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 6. Description of special calibration exposures. This prop contains 2 sequences for scheduling: a) Lines 200 - 204 D1 short test b) Lines 400 - 403 D1 long test ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 7. Data reduction and analysis plans. Standard reductions and output products will be produced. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 8. Additional comments or special requests. For lines 200 - 204 I have requested "group within 24 hours".
