FOC far-UV objective prism spectra of 3 Z>3 quasars will be observed in the standard `point and shoot' imaging mode. In order to optimize the signal-to-noise of the extracted spectra with respect to the variable detector and sky background - whilst avoiding the introduction of orbital scheduling constraints - the exposures of each target have been broken into separate 25 minute exposures. The individual sub-exposures are also offset slightly spatially (using POS_TARG) in order to minimize residual flatfielding problems. Neither the precise duration (to within, say, 20%) nor the sequencing of the individual exposures is critical. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4. Justification of need for HST observations. The objective prism mode of the FOC is the fastest and operationally simplest far-ultraviolet spectroscopic mode available onboard ST. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 8. Additional comments or special requests. This proposal is a direct continuation of the Cycle 0 FOC/GTO 1235, Cycle 1 3179 and FOC/AUG 3057 proposals. Aside from COSTAR, the proposal utilizes an identical instrumental configuration and exposure sequence.
