Abstract Using the high resolution f/96 mode of the FOC we shall image Magellanic Cloud Planetary Nebulae - objects whose diameters are less than 2 arcsec. Their known distances will allow nebular masses to be derived from their angular diameters, yielding the distribution of PN shell masses for the first time. In combination with their nebular expansion velocities, known from ground-based studies, it will be possible to determine the age of the objects.ects. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 8. N/A ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 9. Description of previous HST work. Twelve planetary nebulae will have been observed by the end of Cycle 2. In Cycle 1 we observed Magellanic Cloud nebulae SMC N2, SMC N5, LMC N66, and LMC N201. Each were observed in both the F501N and F486N filters. These data led to a publication of an ApJ letter in the 10/10/92 issue. Cycle 2 observations consist of Magellanic Cloud planetary nebulae SMC N18, SMC N4, SMC N67, LMC LM1- 61, LMC N192, LMC N24, LMC N52, and LMC N97, all in the F501N filter. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 10. Resources to be supplied by investigator's institution(s). Supported by FOC NASA grant. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 13. We shall carry out high resolution imaging of Magellanic Cloud Planetary Nebulae to determine their masses and ages. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 11.
