FOS observations were made incorrectly for line_3: this program, as described in HOPR no. 55, and we were line_4: authorized to submit up to 4.33 spacecraft hours of line_5: replacement time. We were moreover authorized to change the line_6: FOS time to imaging time for additional investigation of line_7: 0950+139, which is the central star of the planetary nebula line_8: EGB 6. line_9: We will use the WF/PC with V and I filters, in order to line_10: determine the colors of the close (0".18) companion discovered line_11: with the FOC images already obtained in this program. In line_12: addition, we will obtain WF/PC grism images in order to line_13: determine whether, as we suspect, this faint companion of line_14: the central star is an emission-line source. ! ! end of abstract general_form_proposers: lname: RENZINI fname: ALVIO inst: BOLOGNA, UNIVERSITY OF country: ITALY esa: X ! lname: LIEBERT fname: JAMES mi: W. inst: ARIZONA, UNIVERSITY OF country: USA ! lname: BOND fname: HOWARD title: P.I. mi: E. inst: STSCI country: USA ! ! end of general_form_proposers block general_form_text: question: 2 section: 1 line_1: (See original proposal for Scientific Justification) ! question: 3 section: 1 line_1: Short description of the observations. There are two line_2: distinct kinds of observations, both designed to elucidate line_3: the nature of the close (0".18) companion of 0950+139. We line_4: will obtain V and I images with the PC, in order to line_5: determine the V-I color of the companion, which we suspect line_6: may be an M dwarf that we know is present somewhere in the line_7: system from ground-based IR photometry. We will also obtain line_8: PC esposures through two grisms, in order to obtain line_9: spatially resolved low-dispersion spectra; here the purpose line_10: is to localize the source of the strong forbidden emission line_11: lines that ground-based spectra show. Again, we suspect that line_12: the lines arise from the faint companion, but the spatially line_13: resolved spectra are required to confirm this. ! question: 4 section: 1 line_1: (See original proposal) ! question: 5 section: 1 line_1: (See original proposal) ! question: 6 section: 1 line_1: The grism observations require a specific line_2: spacecraft roll angle, in order that the line_3: grism dispersion be perpendicular (within line_4: +/- 25 degrees) to the line joining the two stars. ! question: 7 section: 1 line_1: (See original proposal) ! question: 8 section: 1 line_1: ! question: 9 section: 1 line_1: N/A ! question: 10 section: 1 line_1: (See original proposal) ! !end of general form text general_form_address: lname: BOND fname: HOWARD mi: E. title: DR. category: PI inst: STSCI addr_1: 3700 SAN MARTIN DR. city: BALTIMORE state: MD zip: 21218 country: USA ! ! end of general_form_address records fixed_targets: targnum: 1 name_1: 0950+139 name_2: EGB6-CENTRAL-STAR descr_1: STAR; TYPE=DA; CENTRAL STAR; WHITE DWARF; descr_2: DEGENERATE STAR; PLANETARY NEBULA; descr_3: CIRCUMSTELLAR pos_1: PLATE-ID=01X2, pos_2: RA=09H 52M 58.98S +/- 0.7", pos_3: DEC=+13D 44' 33.7" +/- 0.7" equinox: J2000 fluxnum_1: 1 fluxval_1: V=16.0 fluxnum_2: 2 fluxval_2: B-V=-0.30 ! ! end of fixed targets !
