In order to re-establish the FOS science configuration it is necessary to return it from the SAFE mode configuration used during the shuttle mission to a standard HOLD configuration. This transition is best done using the standard SAFE-HOLD commanding, which has been exercised during the normal mission. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3. Description of proposed observations. The transition from SAFE-HOLD for the FOS requires three (3) exposures. The first and last establish the the configuration of the 10.2 (SI reconfiguration) tables. The second line allocates 35 minutes to execute the SYRECOVER instruction, which actually commands the FOS from SAFE to HOLD configuration. As this activity will be the first time FOS telemetry is seen after the instruments were configured for the servicing mission, the engineering telemetry must be captured for later analysis. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 6. Description of special calibration exposures. This proposal must be the first FOS activity after the completion of the shuttle portion of the servicing mission. Although there is not a special requirement included, other FOS activities must not be scheduled between these three exposure lines. The 10.2 configurations should ensure that this result occurs. As line 2 is implemented with a single command instruction, it must be implemented as a non -interruptable alignment. There is no requirement on the separations between the exposure lines, merely their order.
