Abstract GHRS moderate resolution spectra of the enigmatic object, V Sge, will be obtained. IUE data have tentatively shown redshifted emission at ~700 km/s. Description of proposed observations. The observations of V Sge will be made on two visits, separated by at least 30 days. During the first visit we will observe the N V, SI IV, C IV, He II and Mg II emission lines. The second visit, which will consist of an observation at C IV only will be used to search for phase-dependent changes in the redshift of the C IV emission. Ten interacting binaries have been selected to study the manner of mass flow. Based on available data, these binaries are quite possibly in or near the rarely observed, shourt-lived phase of super critical mass transfer.
