Description of proposed observations. The telescope will be pointed to place the star in or near the Large Science Aperture. The flight software will execute a spiral search using flux limits determined from the previous test (1351). A field map will be produced after the target is detected. It will be centered in the LSA, followed by another field map to check the centering. Three short exposure spetra with grating G140L will be taken. The star will then be translated to the Small Science Aperture, followed by a peakup and field map. The same three spectra will confirm the presence of the star in the aperture, and will measure the fraction of light lost at the aperture as a function of wavelength. This process will then be repeated using one of the detector D2 acquisition mirrors, probably A2. This process must be verified for each detector because the maneuvers required to center the target are calculated sligtly differently for the two sides. Detailed Procedure (added from IDT Test Description): 1. Search phase 1 - spiral and stop, no maps N1 or A1 Locate phase 3 - map, then center in LSA 2. Locate phase 2 - map (after centered) flux check 3. G140L spectra central wavelengths = 1250, 1500, 1750 through LSA 4. Locate phase 1 - center in LSA Move to SSA, peakup, flux check 5. Map SSA in Image mode 6. G140L spectra central wavelengths = 1250, 1500, 1750 through SSA 7. Reposition telescope to inital pointing 8. Switch to detector D2, mirror A2 9. Search phase 1, spiral and stop, no maps Locate phase 3 - map, then center in LSA 10. Locate phase 2 - map LSA (after centering) 11. G160M spectra central wavelength = 1340 through LSA 12. Locate phase 1 - center in LSA Move to SSA, peakup, flux check 13. Map SSA in Image mode 14. Prerequisites: OV 1350 TA Spiral Search Test must be successfully completed prior to attempting target locate. At least 2 weeks should be allowed between the Spiral Search and Locate tests to provide for repeat of Spiral Search, if necessary.
