The observing program for each object is to first observe it function mode to determine if it is a resolved binary or not. can be made at any time and is assummed to be in cycle 1. Observations may begin at either of the dates (+/- 21 days) i exposure log once the star has been shown to be unresolved. T continue on a six month interval until complete. The observin each object is to observe it when its parallax factor is near making 4, 6, 4, 6, 4 exposures. Each exposure should be space or at least made on different orbits. The procedure would be parallax target, seven to ten reference stars within the area used, and then the parallax target again for closure. Cycle 1 = 19 exposures Cycle 2 = 4x19 exposures + 6x19 exposures Cycle 3 = 4x19 exposures Cycle 4 = 6x19 exposures Cycle 5 = 4x19 exposures Observations in Cycles one and two may be interchanged, PROVI sequence of 4-6-4-6-4 observations of each target star in suc periods is preserved. This would mean redefining the Observat that star. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4. Justification of need for HST observations. At present, in a most extreme case (3000+ multiple exposure p accuracy in the parallax of +/- 0.001" is about the limit of techniques. The observing procedure given in (3) above should accuracy of +/- 0.0005" or perhaps a little better with ST. F ground based observations (4, 6, 4, 6, 4 single exposures) we fortunate to achieve an accuracy of +/- 0.008" under the most circumstances. In the example cited in the abstract (Feige 24 several thousand multiple exposure plates to determine its di accuracy if it is at 60 pc. Its distance is more likely to be inaccessible by ground based techniques. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5. Description of special scheduling requirements. The initial observation on each object in the transfer functi examined as soon as possible. Data reduction and analysis plans. A standard reduction procedure has been developed by the STAT to be required or even believed to be required are included.
