Mu-Col will be acquired using mirror A1, and centered in the Large Science Aperture. A field map will be taken to confirm the centering. The carousel will be rotated to position Echelle a at the peak of the blaze sensitivity =mLambda=56200. Observations of orders 47-33 will be made with four samples per resolution element and two samples on the interorder background. The shutter will be closed and spectral lamp SCI will be measured at the same wavelengths. The star will be translated to the Small Aperture, and the same sequence of observations repeated. It will then be returned to the Large Aperture, and all fifteen orders will be measured at each of three other carousel positions. The four carousel positions will be at approximately mLambda=55600, 56200, 57200 and 57800. The same type of sequence will be repeated with Echelle B and detector D2. NOTE to exposure log lines: Exposure time has the following derivation. This is exactly what we want implemented: STEP-PATT=7 => 4 bins on spectrum, repeat code=1 2 bins on background, repeat code=8 ------ 34 integrations per pattern * 0.2 sec per integration ------ 6.8 sec per pattern * 4 patterns ------ 27.2 sec for Ech-A 6.8 sec per pattern * 2 patterns ------ 13.6 sec for Ech-B Mu COL will have been used in tests HRS-03 (prop 1349) to calibrate camera mirror sensitivities. If those results show that mirror A2 can be used lines 14, 15, 18, 18.5, 20, and 20.5 will use A2. Current estimates are that A2 will saturate the detectors and A1 may have to be used. A1 count rate= 6700 cts/sec an A2 count rate=380,000 cts/sec. Default values for ACQ and IMAGE mode map parameters will be okay. Exposure times have been changed to agree with use of OSCAN mode; i.e. all 15 orders constitute one "exposure" with a "time per exposure" of 15 * 27.2 = 408 seconds. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5.
